Abstract: Chromatographie investigations with tritium-Iabelled substances cause contamination of the mainly inorganic column filling material. In order to measure this contamination quantitatively, the carrier material is heated to 700° C in a stream of oxygen. The escaping tritium and the tritium-containing organic substances are passed over nickel oxide powder and oxidized copper turnings and are converted to HTO which is trapped. The HTO is mixed with a suitable scintillator solution and measured with a liquid scintillator spectrometer.
